The conference finals matchups for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs are almost set following the Dallas Stars' dramatic 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche in double overtime on Friday night. Now, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks are the last remaining second-round matchup.

On Friday night, the Avs were fighting to keep their season alive in Game 6 and took a 1-0 lead into the third period. That slim edge didn't last long as Stars captain Jamie Benn tied the score just 1:56 into the third frame, and that would be the last goal for a while. Over 49 minutes of game time later, Matt Duchene buried a rebound in double overtime to win the game and send the Stars to the Western Conference Final for the second consecutive season.

Now, the Stars will await their opponent as the Oilers and Canucks play Game 6 in Edmonton on Saturday night. J.T. Miller broke Edmonton's heart in Game 5 when he scored the game-winning goal with just 33 seconds left in regulation. The Canucks will now try to finish this series on the road, but we'll see what kind of response Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have up their sleeves.

The structure of the playoffs is as follows:

  • The division winner with the most points in each conference will face the second Wild Card team in the first round. The division winner with fewer points in each conference will match up with the top Wild Card team in the first round.
  • Each series will be a best-of-seven format.
  • Home-ice advantage goes to the team with the top seed in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The team with the most points in the regular season has home-ice advantage in the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final.

Below is how you can follow each series in the first round along with updating results and scores from each game. Bookmark this page for the duration of the playoff run to stay up to date with everything on the ice.
