Markstrom is stuck in a three-game losing streak while also having won just once in his last seven outings. During that seven-game stretch, the 34-year-old backstop has managed a subpar 3.48 GAA and .870 save percentage. Meanwhile, Dustin Wolf has won three in a row and could get the nod for the season finale against San Jose on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Jacob Markstrom: Loses third straight game
Markstrom stopped 26 of 29 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Kings. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. The Flames' offense didn't solve Cam Talbot until Jonathan Huberdeau scored in the third period, offering Markstrom insufficient support. This was Markstrom's third loss in a row and his sixth in his last seven games. The 34-year-old is stumbling to the finish line in 2023-24 and is now at 23-22-2 with a 2.75 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 47 appearances. The Flames are back in action Friday versus the Ducks, which is likely a game Dustin Wolf will start.... See More ... See Less -

Markstrom will guard the road goal versus the Kings on Thursday, Brendan Parker of Flames TV reports. Markstrom's gone 1-4-0 with 16 goals allowed over his last five games. He has a 22-17-2 record, 2.68 GAA and .910 save percentage across 41 outings in 2023-24. The 34-year-old's first assignment back figures to be a difficult one -- the Canucks rank fifth offensively with 3.50 goals per game. Now that Markstrom is healthy, he will likely receive the bulk of the starts because Dan Vladar (hip) won't play again this season. Dustin Wolf, who featured in all of Calgary's past five contests, will slide into the backup role.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Jacob Markstrom: Unavailable Monday
Markstrom (lower body) won't be in the lineup Monday versus Washington, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Markstrom will miss his fourth straight contest. Markstrom (lower body) won't dress for Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights, per the NHL media site. Markstrom will miss a second straight game with the injury. Markstrom wasn't great in his last start Saturday against the Panthers, surrendering five goals on 31 shots en route to a 5-1 defeat. He'll try to return to the win column in a tough home matchup with a rolling Avalanche team that's won five of its last six games.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Jacob Markstrom: Swarmed by kitties
Markstrom made 26 saves in a 5-1 loss to Florida on Saturday. The Flames played well in front of Markstrom in the first period, but the floodgates opened once Vladimir Tarasenko stole the puck and scored 23 seconds into the second. The Panthers pressured the Flames, forcing turnovers and giveaways that not even the strong Markstrom could stop. With the Flames' defense decimated by deadline trades, the netminder may struggle to deliver the same kind of numbers as he did earlier this season.... See More ... See Less -

Markstrom made 19 saves in a 6-3 win over Tampa Bay on Thursday. Markstrom was solid throughout the game, which has been the mantra of the netminder's entire season. He's 5-1-0 in his last six starts and 14-7-0 in 21 starts since the December break. And that's for a team outside the playoffs. Markstrom's name may continue to swirl in trade rumors until Friday's deadline, but he has a full no-move clause and will need to agree to any move. At 34, he remains a cornerstone for the Flames, and they want to be competitive next season. That means Markstrom will likely stay in Calgary. But never say never.... See More ... See Less
