Stars' Jake Oettinger: Slated to start Wednesday
Oettinger is set to guard the home goal in Wednesday's Game 5 against the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.
Oettinger is aiming for his fourth consecutive victory after stopping 80 of 85 shots (.941 save percentage) across his previous three wins over Colorado. The netminder has a 7-4 record, 2.02 GAA and .923 save percentage in 11 playoff appearances this year. While Oettinger has been great, the Avalanche have a potent offense, so it wouldn't be surprising if they prove to be quite the challenge for the 25-year-old goaltender as Colorado fights to avoid elimination.

Stars' Alex Petrovic: Up from minors
Petrovic was called up from AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Petrovic recorded five goals and 22 points in 70 regular-season outings with Texas and contributed a marker in seven AHL playoff contests. The 32-year-old isn't likely to play in Game 5 against Colorado on Wednesday.

Stars' Mavrik Bourque: Brought up from minors
Bourque was called up from AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Bourque's promotion comes after AHL Texas was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs. The 22-year-old center racked up 26 goals and 51 helpers in 71 AHL regular-season contests before adding another 11 points in seven postseason games with Texas. Even if Bourque doesn't see much time in the Stanley Cup playoffs, he should be in the mix for a roster spot heading into the 2024-25 campaign given his offensive upside.

Stars' Lian Bichsel: Recalled Wednesday
Bichsel was summoned from AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Bichsel had a goal, seven points and 34 PIM in 16 regular-season contests with Texas and also recorded an assist in five AHL playoff outings this year. He hasn't made his NHL debut and is unlikely to play for Dallas during the 2024 postseason.

Stars' Roope Hintz: Won't play Wednesday
Hintz (upper body) will miss Wednesday's Game 5 versus Colorado, per Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine.
Hintz has two goals and six points in nine playoff contests this year. Dallas would advance to the Western Conference Finals with one more victory, giving Hintz more time to rest before the Stars' schedule resumes. However, even if Colorado forces a Game 6 on Friday, the 27-year-old might still be an option given his current day-to-day status. In the meantime, Radek Faksa is projected to draw into the lineup against the Avalanche due to Hintz's absence.

Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Sidelined again Wednesday
Hakanpaa (lower body) will remain on the shelf for Game 5 against the Avalanche on Wednesday, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Hakanpaa hasn't played since March 16 versus the Kings, a stretch of 24 games on the shelf due to his lower-body problem. At this point, until he shows up at practice, Hakanpaa should probably be considered out indefinitely. Even if cleared to play, the defenseman is far from a lock for a spot in the lineup anyway.

Stars' Roope Hintz: Undergoing testing
Hintz (upper body) is still being evaluated ahead of Wednesday's Game 5 matchup against Colorado, according to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News.
Hintz didn't return to Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4 after blocking a shot late in the first period. He has generated two goals, four assists, 13 shots on net and 15 hits in 11 outings this postseason. If Hintz isn't available to play in Game 5, Radek Faksa or Ty Dellandrea could suit up in Wednesday's contest versus Colorado.

Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Stellar in Game 4
Johnston scored two goals on eight shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4.
Johnston opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal on a rebound in the first period. He added a power-play marker in the second and set up Sam Steel's empty-netter in the third. Johnston had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two games. That hasn't stopped him from looking like a standout for the Stars with seven goals, four assists, 39 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 11 playoff appearances. If Roope Hintz (upper body) misses time, Johnston could be a natural fit to take his spot on the top line.

Oettinger stopped 24 of 25 shots in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4.
Oettinger has won three starts in a row after dropping the first game in the second round. He limited the damage to a Casey Mittelstadt tally in the second period of Monday's tilt. Through 11 postseason contests, Oettinger is 7-4 with a 2.02 GAA and a .923 save percentage. The Stars lead the Avalanche 3-1 in the series and will have up to three chances to book their tickets to the Western Conference Finals. Game 5 is Wednesday in Dallas.
