Harris is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Houston, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Harris started all 11 games at third base since being promoted by Oakland on May 3, and he'll receive a day off after he posted a .147/.333/.412 slash line in that stretch. Abraham Toro will man the hot corner while Zack Gelof (oblique) returns from the injured list to start at second base.... See More ... See Less

Athletics' Brett Harris: Belts third homer in twin bill
Harris 2-for-6 with a solo home run, an RBI sacrifice fly, two walks and an additional run over both games of a doubleheader against the Rangers on Wednesday. The rookie uncorked his first homer since belting his first two big-league round trippers in only his second career game on Saturday versus the Marlins. Harris also continued to display some solid plate discipline for a rookie by drawing another pair of free passes, pushing his walk rate to a stellar 19.4 percent across his first 31 plate appearances.... Athletics' Brett Harris: Draws fifth consecutive start
Harris will start at third base and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Rangers. The righty-hitting Harris has now started in five consecutive games at third base since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, with three coming against left-handed pitchers and two coming against righties. Tyler Nevin will find himself as the odd man out of the lineup Tuesday against Rangers righty Jose Urena, but Harris may need to string together more strong performances to ensure he remains more than a short-side platoon player moving forward. Harris turned some heads with a two-homer performance in his second major-league game Saturday, but he's otherwise gone 1-for-10 at the dish in his other three starts.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brett Harris: Selected to MLB roster
The Athletics selected Harris' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. Harris has slashed .289/.418/.456 with three homers and 20 RBI across 110 plate appearances in Triple-A. The 25-year-old has played most often as a third baseman, though he has seen a handful of reps at second base and shortstop. J.D. Davis (thigh) was reinstated from the injured list Friday and Tyler Nevin is playing well at the hot corner, so Harris doesn't figure to immediately enter into a starting role. Freddy Tarnok (hip) was placed on the 60-day IL to clear space on the 40-man roster.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brett Harris: Bumped up to Triple-A
Harris has gone 3-for-12 with one double, three strikeouts and one walk in three games since getting promoted from Double-A Midland to Triple-A Las Vegas. Known for his strong defense at the hot corner and ability to make contact at a strong clip, Harris slashed .283/.399/.426 with five home runs and a 13.4 percent strikeout rate as one of the older legitimate prospects at Double-A. He turned 25 in June before getting the bump to Triple-A, and it's possible he could hit just enough to be a low-end everyday third baseman for Oakland.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brett Harris: Strong hit tool for Midland
Harris has a .291/.399/.440 slash line with three home runs and four steals in 47 games for Double-A Midland. He has played 131 games for the RockHounds dating back to last year, so he should get a bump to Triple-A in the coming weeks. Harris turns 25 this month, so he's on the older side for a legitimate prospect at Double-A, but he has a solid hit tool and is a good enough defensive third baseman to potentially profile as the long-term option at the hot corner....
