Bregman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Athletics. Bregman entered the Oakland series with one homer on the year, but he's hit three long balls and added two doubles over his last two games. The third baseman has gone 10-for-24 (.417) during a six-game hitting streak, though he's still got a long way to go to get his season-long numbers at an acceptable level. Bregman is slashing .225/.293/.358 with four homers, 18 RBI, 12 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 39 contests.... See More ... See Less

Astros' Alex Bregman: Explodes for two homers, four RBI
Bregman went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a double, four total RBI, three total runs and a walk in a 9-2 victory against the Athletics on Monday. Bregman came into Monday looking like a shell of his former power-hitting self with just one long ball through 159 plate appearances, but he brought back reminders of his 41-homer 2019 campaign with a pair of solo blasts in the victory. The third baseman capped the big performance with a two-run double in the eighth inning, giving him a season-high four RBI and his second three-hit effort of the campaign. Bregman could be in the midst of turning around what had previously looked like a tepid season, as he's on a five-game hitting streak during which he's gone 8-for-20 (.400 average) with four extra-base hits and six RBI.... Astros' Alex Bregman: Modest three-game hitting streak
Bregman went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Tigers. Bregman delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to three games. While that's not particularly notable, he's collected a hit in three straight starts only two other times this season, with the most recent stretch ending April 15. The end result is that Bregman has just a .201 batting average across 154 plate appearances on the campaign, though he has improved his production of late by tallying six RBI across his last 13 contests.... Astros' Alex Bregman: Finally goes yard
Bregman went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Guardians. Bregman has been off to a slow start this season but has improved of late, as he's collected six hits in his last 23 at-bats. He also slugged his first home run of the season Tuesday. While Bregman has only a .078 ISO in 113 plate appearances this season, he's striking out at just a 12.4 percent clip, meaning his .216 average should continue to rise.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Shaking off cold stretch
Bregman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday against Colorado. Bregman has an ugly .216 average in 108 plate appearances to start the season. He's shown small signs of turning things around at the plate, as he has at least one hit in three of his last four games. More concerning is that Bregman has just a .052 ISO to go along with two barrels in 81 batted-ball events.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Returns to Houston lineup
Bregman (illness) will start at third base and bat cleanup in Monday's contest versus Atlanta. Bregman missed three games due to illness but is feeling up to participating in Monday's festivities. It's been a slow start to the season for the veteran third baseman, as he'll carry a .241/.305/.333 batting line with no home runs into play Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Absence continues Sunday
Bregman (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Bregman will sit for the third consecutive game as he continues to deal with an illness. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Bregman was able to participate in baseball activities during a pregame workout, so he could be available off the bench and may be ready to return to the lineup Monday versus Atlanta. Mauricio Dubon will spell him at third base Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Still dealing with illness
Bregman (illness) is resting at home for Saturday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. He popped in the clubhouse briefly, but Bregman wasn't ready to return to action. Mauricio Dubon will start at third base and Bregman is considered day-to-day.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Battling illness
Bregman isn't in the Astros' lineup Friday due to an illness, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Bregman has gone 7-for-19 with an RBI across his last four games, but he will sit down Friday as he recovers from an illness. Grae Kessinger will take over at third base and bat ninth, and he could be in line for more starts should Bregman have to miss multiple games.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: First multi-hit game
Bregman went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI on Monday against the Rangers. Bregman has gotten off to a slow start to the season, as Monday's performance marked his first multi-hit effort. He also has just two RBI and one run scored across 11 games. While it's been a frustrating opening to the new campaign, Bregman is still striking out just 15.6 percent of the time and should see the rest of his numbers normalize over time.... See More ... Astros' Alex Bregman: Reaches base three times
Bregman went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base Friday against the Yankees. The Astros couldn't muster much offense in a 7-1 loss, but Bregman had a productive game. He swiped his first bag of the season on a double steal with Kyle Tucker in the third inning and also tallied his first RBI of the campaign two frames earlier. Bregman attempted only four stolen bases in 2023, so his aggressiveness on the basepaths early in the new campaign is encouraging.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Houston will make extension offer
Astros owner Jim Crane said in an interview with Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle this week that the team will "definitely" make Bregman a contract extension offer before he reaches free agency next offseason. For what it's worth, Crane was asked about Bregman's contract situation prior to the club announcing Jose Altuve's five-year, $125 million extension. Bregman is nearly four years younger than Altuve and seems inclined at this juncture to test out the free-agent market, so a long-term deal doesn't appear super likely. The third baseman slashed .262/.363/.441 with 25 home runs and 98 RBI for Houston in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Goes yard in season finale
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a triple and two runs scored in Sunday's win over Arizona. Bregman got the scoring started with his home run during Houston's four-run first frame. He snapped a nine-game homerless drought -- he went deep just three times since the start of September. The veteran third baseman finishes the 2023 regular season with a .262/.363/.441 slash line, 25 home runs, 57 extra-base hits and 98 RBI across 161 games.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Reaches three times, homers
Bregman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 9-5 loss against the Orioles. He entered Tuesday's game hitless in five of his last seven games, but Bregman delivered a solo home run off Kyle Gibson in the third inning for his 24th long ball of 2023. The homer officially pushed him past his 2022 total, marking the third baseman's most home runs since 2019.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Goes deep in victory
Bregman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against Oakland in Wednesday's 6-2 win. Bregman followed Yordan Alvarez's three-run shot in the third inning with a solo blast of his own to give Houston a 4-0 lead. The homer was the first of September for the third baseman, and though he's hit well with a .298 batting average over 47 at-bats on the month, he's knocked in a modest four runs through 12 contests. Bregman nonetheless surpassed last season's total with his 94th RBI on Wednesday, and he needs six more down the stretch to finish with 100-plus RBI for the third time in his career.... See More ... Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers in win
Bregman went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox. Bregman opened the scoring with a home run off Brayan Bello in the first inning, his 22nd of the season and fourth in his last 13 games. The 29-year-old third baseman has continued to swing a hot bat -- he's gone 31-for-84 (.369) with 13 extra-base hits over his previous 21 contests. Bregman's slash line is up to .265/.365/.447 with 89 RBI and 85 runs scored across 597 plate appearances on the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers, drives in three
Bregman went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 12-5 victory over the Marlins. Bregman opened the scoring Wednesday with a solo home run off Jesus Luzardo in the first inning before adding two more RBI with a double in the seventh. While the homer was Bregman's first since July 29, he's logged five multi-hit games in his last nine contests, going 12-for-36 (.334) in that span. The 29-year-old third baseman is now slashing .251/.349/.418 with 19 homers, 79 RBI and 71 runs scored across 538 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers coming in bunches
Bregman went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday against the Rays. Bregman was among a trio of Astros hitters to take backup catcher Rene Pinto deep. He now has 18 homers on the season, six of which have come in 14 games since the All-Star break. In that same span, Bregman has also chipped in 12 runs scored and 10 RBI while hitting .340.... Astros' Alex Bregman: Stays hot Saturday
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Athletics. Bregman provided the Astros' lone run when he took Paul Blackburn deep in the sixth inning. This was Bregman's third straight game with a homer, and he's gone deep four times since the All-Star break. The third baseman is up to a .252/.344/.423 slash line with 16 long balls, 63 RBI, 58 runs scored and three stolen bases through 98 contests. After a sluggish first half, he appears intent on finishing the season well.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers in consecutive contests
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 win over the Athletics. Bregman has homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone yard three times over his last five contests. The third baseman is up to 15 homers, 62 RBI, 57 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .249/.343/.414 slash line through 97 games this season. While the overall numbers aren't great, he's batting .287 (31-for-108) with seven multi-hit efforts since June 18.... See More ... See Less
