Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Twins.
Duran finally got on the board with his first long ball of the season, though that wasn't enough to save him from being lifted for a defensive replacement (Travis Jankowski) later in the game. While Duran now has a .284 batting average, he has just a .683 OPS and his playing time has been trending downward. The 25-year-old had been in the starting lineup for just two of the Rangers' last six games entering Saturday.

Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Duran is on the bench for the third time in four games and looks set to fill more of a part-time role moving forward now that Evan Carter is healthy again after a back injury recently kept him out of the lineup for more than a week. The Rangers still have an opening in the lineup at designated hitter while Wyatt Langford (hamstring) is on the shelf, but manager Bruce Bochy appears content to rotate a number of different players at that spot.

Duran started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Colorado.
Duran made a fifth consecutive start and has hit safely in all five, including multiple hits in the last four of those contests. It's a relatively light hitting streak; he's 10-for-17 during that stretch with with just one RBI and 10 singles. Still, opportunity matters. With playing time available at third base, left field and designated hitter due to injuries, Duran has started seven of the last eight games.

Duran started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Friday's 4-2 loss to Colorado.
Duran made a third consecutive start and has hit in all three, going 6-for-10 with one RBI and three runs scored. He's started in left field and third base during the three-start run, and there will be plenty of opportunities at each position with Wyatt Langford (hamstring) and Josh Jung (wrist) on the injured list. Neither is due back until the end of the month at the earliest.

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Starts in left field
Duran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.
Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264).
